Most Anxiety Disorders are chronic. Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder or OCD is a prime example of a difficult kind of an Anxiety Disorder. OCD can be somewhat compared to superstition where if one thing is done, a perceived illogical, unrelated and unwanted result can be avoided. Usually, individuals suffering from OCD are obsessed with things such as door knobs and light switches. They would constantly check if a door knob is locked or not because their OCD condition gives them an obsession that the door is unlocked. This leads to a compulsive constant and repetitive checking. Anxiety Disorders such as Social Anxiety Disorder or Social Phobia is very common here in the US especially with teenagers. This condition manifests or gets worse in the school setting, where social orders are present. We see it a lot now in teen movies where individuals group themselves into different social classes where others tend to be elites and very critical to individuals that doesn't meet their perceived normal standards. Individuals suffering from Social Phobia are very concerned on how they are being evaluated by the public.

This usually lead to a lot of other fears such as stage freight and fear of public speaking. In extreme cases, because of the fear of potential humiliation, life can be sometimes impossible to those who are afflicted. Treatment on Anxiety Disorders varies from case to case. Psychotherapy is commonly employed to individuals who have mild cases. Anti-depressant drugs such as Xanax and Quetiapine are prescribed to individual with extreme chronic cases. Though recently, various studies regarding which treatment method is more effective has sparked some controversy. Some shows that psychotherapy doesn't have any effect at all, though others show that it is all what is needed. Working closely with a psychiatrist, therapist, or a counselor and constantly trying to find what works and what doesn't is sometimes the best option for people afflicted with Anxiety Disorders.
